Imaginary Forces is a creative studio and production company founded by Chip Houghton, Peter Frankfurt, and Kyle Cooper (Prologue Films). Moviegoing audiences will surely recognize one of the company’s most iconic contributions, the flipbook-style title card that precedes all Marvel Entertainment films.

Notable Products:

  • Game cinematics
  • Commercial production
  • Motion graphics
  • Interactive media
  • Experience design
  • Film/TV titles and trailers
What to Expect:

Imaginary Forces specializes in storytelling through motion graphics, combining original footage with animation. Contributions to film and television include title sequences for television series like Boardwalk Empire, The Pacific, Mad Men, and Smash; film titles include Twilight Saga: Eclipse, 500 Days of Summer, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Additionally, Imaginary Forces designed the title sequence and flashback cinematics for the God of War III video game developed by Sony. Moving beyond the movie and television screen, the company has worked with numerous clients to deliver experience designs for events and architectural environments, like the Dinosaur Hall at the Natural History Museum, the “Infopeel” at the Lincoln Center, the Lake of Dreams at the Wynn Las Vegas, and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Headquartered in Hollywood, Imaginary Forces also operates offices in New York. The company employs a fulltime staff of more than 70 creative contributors in a wide variety of disciplines, including directors, producers, designers, writers, editors, and animators. As needed, the organization also contracts with freelancers for specific jobs. Imaginary Forces posts available employment opportunities on its official website and accepts unsolicited portfolios from those who wish to be considered for freelance assignments. Applicants may submit reels and portfolios via email as noted on the company’s website. Candidates interested in design and animation positions must be fluent in Maya, Cinema 4D, Adobe Creative Suite, or After Effects.

Imaginary Forces is welcoming of applicants at all levels of experience and encourages those still early in their careers to submit portfolios for consideration when freelance and regular positions are available. For the candidates who are hired, Imaginary Forces expects all new employees to be able to quickly jump in and get started. There is little time to ease into the job, so you must be a quick learner that shows up ready to work.
